The Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies announces
Travel Grants to attend the XI ICCEES World Congress
21-25 July 2025 at University College London, UK.
A limited number of travel grants, up to $1,000CA, will be awarded to scholars:
• who are based in Ukraine or who have been displaced by the war
• who are working on or recently completed a Ph.D. on Ukraine’s history, politics, or culture
• who are affiliated with a Ukrainian research or academic institution
• whose paper or panel proposal has been accepted for ICCEES 2025.
Applications, submitted by 15 April 2025 through the CIUS Awards Portal., must include:
- A cover letter (1 page) outlining research interests, participation in the Congress, and financial need.
- The title and abstract of the individual paper or panel proposal to ICCEES 2025.
- Confirmation of proposal submission / acceptance to ICCEES 2025.
- CV (2 pages) outlining academic background and relevant experience.
- Budget (with justification).
Successful applicants will be contacted within one month of their application.

- Financial Support Scheme for Postgraduate Research Students

Regional/Displaced Scholar Grant
ICCEES World Congress organisers are able to offer a limited number of travel grants up to £300 plus a fee waiver to subsidise scholars and postgraduate research students who permanently reside in countries in Eastern Europe and Eurasia on the DAC list qualifying for official development assistance (ODA) to present their papers at the Congress. If your country of residence is listed in any of the columns on this page then you can apply. Ukrainian scholars displaced as a result of Russia’s war against Ukraine are also eligible to apply.
(There will be a small number of larger grants available that are supported by specific sponsors)
Applicants are required to deliver a paper in a standard panel session (individuals serving as chairs, discussants, or roundtable participants are not eligible to apply).
Grant applications will be evaluated based on the intellectual quality of the paper proposal, with consideration given to achieving a balance across disciplines and regional representation.
Awards will be disbursed after the congress upon submission of a grant form and expense receipts.

Remote attendance Fee-Waiver scheme for Ukrainian scholars

Financial Support Scheme for Postgraduate Research Students
ICCEES World Congress organisers are able to offer a limited number of additional fee discounts for postgraduate research students attending the ICCEES World Congress 2025. Applicants are required to deliver a paper in a standard panel session (individuals serving as chairs, discussants, or roundtable participants are not eligible to apply).
Applications will be evaluated based on the intellectual quality of the paper proposal, with consideration given to achieving a balance across disciplines and regional representation.
Successful applicants will receive a discount code to be used during the registration process.

Childcare Support Scheme
Attendees who require assistance with childcare during the ICCEES World Congress 2025 may apply for financial support. If your application is accepted, you will be provided a small grant of up to £200 towards the costs of childcare during congress to support your participation. If the number of grant requests surpasses the available funding, preference will be given to postgraduate students, early career scholars, and scholars on fixed-term contracts.
After the congress, each recipient must complete and submit a reimbursement form. The form requires a description of how the funds were used, but no receipts are needed.
Eligible expenses will be reimbursed after the congress up to the maximum grant amount.
